The health crisis caused by the COVID-19 virus has accelerated the digital transformation of companies, organizations and institutions. On December 30, 2021, Order ETD/1498/2021, of December 29, was published in the BOE (Official State Gazette), which approves the regulatory bases for aid for the digitalization of micro and small businesses. companies and self-employed people (self-employed) within the framework of the Digital Spain 2025 Agenda, SME Digitalization Plan 2021-2025 and the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of Spain financed by the European Union, Next Generation EU (Digital Toolkit ).
What is the Digital Kit?
The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation – RED.ES has launched the Digital Kit, a public program of aid and subsidies for small and medium-sized businesses and the self-employed with the aim of promoting the digitization and modernization of the productive fabric of Spain and promote the economic growth of the country.
The program, endowed with more than 3,000 million euros, from the Next Generation funds of the European Union, will have different calls until the end of 2023. According to Minister Nadia Calviño “to provide our SMEs and the self-employed with the digital tools they need to increase its scale, access new markets and develop its full potential” is one of the Government's priorities in the post-Covid stage, given its impact during the pandemic, for Spain's economic recovery.

Who can benefit from the aid?
This first call for aid, with a budget of 500 million euros, is aimed at any business or business activity up to a maximum of 49 employees with tax domicile in Spanish territory. The Government of Spain has segmented the distribution of aid based on the number of employees and the category of the company in order to benefit from it.
Segment 1: Small companies with between 10 and 49 employees with a maximum amount of the digital bonus per company of €12,000.
Segment 2: Small businesses or micro-businesses with 3 to 9 workers with a maximum digital bonus amount of €6,000.
Segment 3: small businesses or micro-businesses and self-employed workers with 1 or 2 employees with a maximum digital bonus amount of €2,000.
